Anne Kouri

Anne has over two decades of experience spanning private, nonprofit, educational, and public sectors, with a strong commitment to enhancing outcomes for children and families. Her career began in homebirth midwifery and culminated in earning her MSW from Western Carolina University in 2011, where she researched racial disparities in maternal and infant mortalities.


Her path in social work included roles as an investigator and family assessment worker and a supervisor for North Carolina’s innovative intimate partner violence specialized team within child welfare in Buncombe County. She contributed to the Family Justice Center’s implementation team, advocating for vulnerable populations and ensuring robust support systems.


Shifting to public health, Anne focused on managing care for high-risk pregnancies, working with individuals, healthcare providers, and community agencies to improve public health outcomes. She maintained her advocacy efforts by serving on the IPV fatality review team and various advisory boards, driving systemic change. She continues integrating her health and human services expertise into her child welfare consulting.


Anne is the Field Director and Assistant Professor of Social Work at Mars Hill University, where she passionately instills resilience and social justice in her students. Her consultancy work focuses on child welfare but spans multiple other program areas across health and human service organizations. In her consulting, Anne emphasizes capacity building and innovation in public service delivery, navigating today’s social landscape with unwavering dedication to equity and empowerment.
