Stoney Blevins began his public human services career in 1987 as an Income Maintenance Caseworker in Harnett County, NC. Stoney has 34 years of experience in the human services field, with 30 years in supervision, management, or executive leadership. While much of his career was in child welfare before becoming a Social Services Director, Stoney’s practice also spans the areas of Public Assistance, Adult and Aging Services, Work Support, Public Health, and Veteran Services.
Stoney retired from local government in June 2024 as the Director of Health and Human Services for Buncombe County, NC, and is currently the sole proprietor of Blevins Consulting. His professional passions are designing and launching innovative solutions that strengthen family and community systems and promoting effective leadership in human services.
Stoney has been married to his wife Candace for 37 years, has six children, three of whom are married, and is Papa to the sweetest granddaughter ever to grace the Commonwealth of Virginia. Stoney’s faith is important to him, and his life purpose is “to glorify God by encouraging others.” Stoney holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Campbell University and Master’s level training from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and East Carolina University.
