Kim Britt

With a 30-year tenure at the Robeson County Department of Social Services, Kim has developed extensive expertise in economic services and all facets of child welfare programs. She is a recognized authority in DSS’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Child Support, and Economic Services program supervision. Since transitioning to child welfare in 2008, Kim has been deeply involved in various worker and leadership roles, including child protective services, family-in-home support, and permanency planning. She later advanced to a supervisory position in Permanency Planning, serving until her retirement in 2022.

Kim’s skill set includes applying policy effectively to guide case decisions, shaping case direction, mentoring new supervisors and caseworkers, and engaging with families and children to promote safety, permanence, and well-being. She is also a Title IV-E and Child & Family Services Review specialist, with expertise at preparing cases for state and federal reviews. Her passion and expertise in Title IV-E, Foster Care, Adoption, and the financial administration of these programs drive her commitment to supporting efficient, impactful child permanency efforts.

A collaborative, policy-focused leader, Kim builds strong relationships with DSS colleagues, NC DHHS partners, judges, attorneys, and other stakeholders to secure positive outcomes for children, families, and the community. Kim holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from the University of Mount Olive in North Carolina and resides in Eastern North Carolina with her husband.
